Garbage

Saturday, the kids and I got up EARLY (eeeek!) and went to walk the Susan Komen 5k with my mom and grandparents. I've never done anything like that and it was fun and exciting to be a part of something so big. I didn't do it "in memory of" or "in celebration of" anybody, but it was touching to see everyone's signs on their backs. It felt good to be supporting such a good, worthy and appropriate cause.

I'd assume the other participants were feeling the same way that I was. And everyone was very cheerful. There were many, many volunteers, and sponsors providing free stuff, water and food. There was a point along the route where water in paper cups was being handed out to anyone who needed it. And there was a large dumpster a few yards from the handout point. And there were used cups ALL OVER the ground, before, at, and after the dumpster. I was very surprised. I couldn't believe that people would go out of their way to do such a good thing, and then LITTER all over the place. It was disgusting.

At one point the guy right in front of me crumpled his cup and then dropped it, like it was an accident. I seriously thought, out loud, that I should ram him with my huge double stroller, then casually mention that he may have dropped his cup. But I'm too nice. Then a few minutes later, the lady with him did the exact. same. thing. What freaking trash. Some people. I so wish I would have rammed them.

It makes me wonder how the sponsor who was providing the cups of water must feel. I'd definitely feel unappreciated. Kinda like I do when Madeline takes her shoes off and throws them into the middle of the kitchen floor. But, see, she's three. She has an excuse.

Ugh...someone who litters is just that...garbage. Some people just have no self responsibility...complete and total lack of.
